Big Village Records proudly welcomes Omar Musa, renowned rapper, poet and author, to our roster. His EP Dead Centre will be released through Big Village Records on August 5 with production by Joelistics and Poncho anf features from L-FRESH THE LION, Hau, Kate Miller-Hiedke, Mataya.

Omar Musa’s debut novel “Here Come the Dogs” has received widespread critical acclaim. He has recently toured across Asia, USA, Europe, South America and Australia, performing spoken word and hip hop, to launch the book. His diverse career achievements include being longlisted for the Miles Franklin Award and named one of the SMH’s Young Novelists of the Year in 2015, winning the Australian Poetry Slam in 2008, speaking at TEDx Sydney, appearing on ABC’s Q&A, and releasing two books of poetry.

MATHAS ANNOUNCES ‘TROLLING AUSTRALIA’ NATIONAL TOUR

Mathas is gearing up to embark on his largest national tour to date, including performances at the Wide Open Space Festival, NT and Big Pineapple Music Festival, QLD. Set for late April, the shows will see Mathas take his renowned live performances to a new level, touring with his new three-piece live band for the first time.

Mathas is right back at it with the release of new single ‘Bravo Troll’. The single continues Mathas’ exploration of the world around him, written on a 1979 Yamaha Electone C-35 Organ and recorded through a single stage microphone; ‘Bravo Troll’ explores the folklore of the troll.

P.Smurf Releases ‘Champion Sound Remixtape’ & Comic Book

The ‘Champion Sound Remixtape’ is a tribute to the Jaylib 2003 classic “Champion Sound” LP. P.Smurf delivers a collection of new songs using beats from the original release and collaborations with long term DJ Cost as well as MCs Maundz, Ellesquire, 1/6, Hyjak, SWARMY, Class A, Joe New and Nooky.

The digital mixtape is accompanied with an original comic book release of the same title, by illustrator Sam Clouston, which tells a story of disruption, addiction and corruption inside Smurf Village.

P.Smurf Announces New Mixtape “Champion Sound Remixtape” OUT Feb 7

Big news from P.Smurf, to pay tribute to the late, great J Dilla and the genius of LA producer Madlib, he has announced forthcoming release, “Champion Sound Remixtape”, using beats from the 2003 classic Jaylib LP. This mixtape will be available for free download on J Dilla’s Birthday February 7, along with a limited edition P.Smurf comic book.

The mixtape features guests Maundz, Ellesquire, 1/6, Hyjak, SWARMY, Class A, Joe New, Nooky & DJ Cost.

BV are joining forces with the esteemed DCA graffiti crew to takeover The Lord Gladstone’s monthly ‘Sunday Walls’ starting this Sunday Jan 10.  Big Village DJs for the afternoon are Roleo, 26th Letter, DJ Cost and DJ Migz. Holding down the walls are the amazingly talented DCA representitives Days, Desta & Chez. They will be presenting an afternoon of live graffiti inside the courtyard and back lane of The Lord Gladstone.

Held on the second Sunday of each month at the recently renovated The Lord Gladstone Hotel, 115 Regent st, Chippendale,  just 5 minutes walk from Central Station, Sunday Walls is the perfect way to spend this sweltering Sydney summer. FREE ENTRY – 2pm-10pm.
